Project to link ocean, wetland
Huntington Beach site is among 50 across the nation to be improved with federal stimulus money.
Orange County Register, July 1, 2009A 41-acre wetland in Huntington Beach, now mostly dry, will be reconnected with the ocean and returned to a more natural state using more than $3 million in federal stimulus funds.
It is one of 50 such projects across the nation announced Tuesday. The Huntington site, in fact, was chosen for the nationwide announcement. The projects will use $167 million in stimulus funds for coastal and marine restoration projects that are expected, directly and indirectly, to create thousands of jobs. NEWS 2
